Skip the Packing Panic
Here's a stat that'll make you feel better about your packing chaos: more than 80% of people find packing for a trip genuinely stressful (Travelodge). So if you've ever found yourself humming and hawing over whether to bring that extra pair of shoes, you're in good company (that's my husband, every trip).
The average traveler spends anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours packing, according to Quora, and that's before the last-minute scramble. And after all that effort? People still forget an average of two essential items per trip, most commonly their toothbrush and their charger.
There's a simple fix.
Instead of building your list from memory (and panic), try handing the thinking off to AI. Paste in your itinerary, or just the basics, and let it generate a packing list tailored to your trip. It'll factor in the weather, your specific activities, and even your airline's baggage restrictions so you know exactly what goes where. You get a solid first draft in seconds. From there, it's just editing.
Here's a prompt to try:
"I'm traveling to [destination] from [date] to [date]. I'm flying [airline name]. Here are my travel details: [paste itinerary or describe your trip, add screenshots]. Based on this, please build me a comprehensive packing list that:
Looks up or estimates the weather for my destination and dates, and factors that into clothing and gear recommendations. Accounts for the specific activities, events, or occasions in my itinerary. Looks up [airline name]'s current carry-on and checked baggage size and weight restrictions, and uses those to guide what to pack where. Splits recommendations between carry-on and checked bag based on those restrictions. Flags any essentials people commonly forget, and anything that may not clear TSA in a carry-on
Keep the list practical and specific to my trip, not a generic checklist."
The more detail you give it, the better the list gets. Mention that you're traveling with kids, need business-casual outfits, or have a connection flight, it adjusts.
Think of it as your packing list, already started. You just show up and edit. One less thing to think about, you're welcome.
