Major US Hotel Brands in Peru: What the Points Data Shows
Peru has become one of the most talked-about travel destinations in recent years. From the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu to the culinary scene in Lima and the dramatic landscapes of the Sacred Valley and Lake Titicaca, it draws travelers looking for something beyond the typical vacation. Hotel brands have taken notice, with Hyatt, Marriott, IHG, and Hilton all maintaining a presence across the country's key destinations.
At Perks&Rec, we always recommend using credit card points on flights rather than hotels. But if you are going to redeem hotel points in Peru, the data points to a few properties worth your attention.
On the Marriott side, Tambo del Inka in the Sacred Valley, the Westin Lima, and Aloft Lima Miraflores all clear the 0.8 cents per point benchmark that most experts consider a solid Bonvoy redemption.
On the Hyatt side, Hyatt Centric San Isidro Lima leads the market at an average 2.0 cents per point with strong award availability.
For IHG and Hilton travelers, Peru is largely a convenience play rather than a value one. The best IHG property in the country, InterContinental Real Lima, comes in at 0.6 cents per point, which just meets the average benchmark. Hilton properties top out at 0.5 cents per point, which falls short of what most experts consider a strong redemption. If you hold points in either program, Peru is a fine place to use them, but do not expect to stretch your balance.
